Cumberland pitcher Beth Paul has been named the ProjoGameTime Athlete of the Week.
Paul capped off an outstanding high school career in fine fashion, as the hardthrowing right-hander hurled Cumberland to its first Division I crown in the Amica Insurance Rhode Island Interscholastic League Softball Championships at Rhode Island College.
Paul batted a team-leading .462 during the playoffs with a double, a triple, a home run, four runs scored and five RBI. On the mound, she posted a 6-1 record with a 0.907 ERA and 67 strikeouts.
Paul recorded her last 11 strikeouts in Cumberland’s 3-2 extra-inning, come-from-behind win over Mount St. Charles in the title game.
