Written by Laura Lawley on July 15, 2011.

(WHAS11)-  Kentucky is one of three states expanding their school meal plan for children in need.

The Community Eligibility option will allow schools in high-poverty areas to eliminate applications and provide free breakfast and lunch to all students for the next four years.

Officials with the Department of Education say it will be less paperwork for schools and parents.

Schools that use the program agrees to provide the free meals and the United States Department of Agriculture will reimburse them.
