The SU Alumni Club of Central New York, which won the SU Alumni Club’s Football Ticket Challenge this fall, donated its winnings—20 men’s basketball tickets—to Southside Charter Academy in Syracuse.
The SU Alumni Club of CNY was credited with more alumni ticket sales than any other club in the Northeast. As a result of winning the contest, the club was awarded 20 tickets to the men’s basketball game against Colgate University on Dec. 11.
Upon learning of its winnings, the club decided to provide these tickets to 7th- and 8th-grade students in Southside Academy’s “Go to High School, Go to College” program.
Additionally, the New York City alumni club, Big Apple Orange, took third place in the challenge and donated its eight tickets to the same program. In total, two alumni clubs donated 28 tickets to the students at Southside Charter.
These students enjoyed the game against Colgate on Dec. 11 and were greeted before the game by several SU student athletes who discussed with them what it means to be a student athlete in college.
